Lockdown has changed our life. If you are a home tutor and you don't know how to teach online , it is going to be a very challenging time for you.
Every home tutor facing some challenging questions such as
What are the tools to teach online?
Are these tools free?
Are these tools effective enough?
Or do we need some extra tools ?
And how to teach on youtube?
To address these questions I am writing about my experience. I am a home tutor and teach in the nearby area of Indirapuram ghaziabad. In the last 5 years, I have taught more than 200 students in nearby areas. I teach Mathematics , Physics and Chemistry from class IX to XII students in Indirapuram with Mera Home Tutor. Several times in the last few years I thought of teaching online but I did not find the ways to do it. I found that it is a bit complex to teach online. And I have not paid attention to teaching online. In March 2020 in India we have lockdown due to covid 19.Now the biggest challenge I faced was how to teach students online.
For a day or two I took off from classes and later on I worked out on the tools.I came across zoom that this tool can be used to teach online. I started using it. I find that it is ok kind of tool. While i was using zoom i came to know that there are security issues with zoom. One or two students refused to take class on zoom. Therefore I searched for some other safe applications such as Signal and Microsoft Team. Signal does not work at all for me. I tried my hand on the Microsoft team but that is basically for schools or businesses.
After doing rigorous research I came across Webex. Webex is a good tool and comparable to zoom. Webex ‘s whiteboard is a bit inconvenient. Zoom’s white board is convenient to use.
Zoom is the best tool to use for online teaching if security concerns are kept aside however I came across the news that Zoom 5 is secured enough. I am still using zoom and it is doing fine.
But is zoom sufficient for great teaching?
Of Course not , if you are teaching subjects such as mathematics and physics which require a lot of writing it becomes difficult to teach using zoom’s whiteboard it is a bit inconvenient to write
using white board.
So how to resolve this problem?
Again I did some research on which tool can be used to write on a whiteboard conveniently. I came across that pen tablet can be used to write on white board
I use a pen tablet which solves most of the problem of writing on a whiteboard. I am using a Wacom 672 Model which is absolutely fine and its cost is around 6500 INR.
Using a pen tablet I am able to teach my students satisfactorily. Now I am trained as an online tutor and teaching students from Delhi, Mumbai ,Gurgaon and Bangalore.
I am also sharing my experience to teach on youtube. If you want to teach on youtube, you can use a pen tablet plus Obs. Now what is Obs?, it is a screen recorder. That's free however you can look for other screen recorders as well such as screencast-o-matic that's also free for 15 Minutes use. So there is a time limit while you can use screencast-o- matic . Or You can go for Obs that's absolutely free and a very good software.Thats how you can teach on youtube. All these tools can be used on a laptop and mobile. Hope this information helps you.
As soon as the lockdown period is over I will start teaching as a home tutor near me with Mera Home Tutor. Mera Home Tutor is a great organization which supports teachers as home tutors near me. Now they are providing online tuition queries and required training to teach online.
